I believe that through the playtesting stages of my game I have been able to change a lot of the rules of the game to make it more user-friendly and easier to play.
My game aims to get rid of all the cards in your hand through gameplay. To do this, players must put down one card per loop while reciting the cards before they put down their own card. I believe that the game I created involves some confrontation in the gameplay and that by adding this the mechanics of the game become more interesting and dynamic to play. The confrontational elements include the action cards which are scattered throughout the deck of cards. These action cards allow for a change in gameplay while it is progressing and allow for players to play strategically with each other.
Playtesting this week turned out to go really well. I had changed my game with the suggestions from last weeks test and found that the change made a big improvement in gameplay for the players. The players commented on the fact that they enjoyed the game and it was very easy and quick to pick up. There were also some other ideas that they brought up which I was debating on including in the game but found that it would make it to complicated or long which isn’t what I wanted to do.

It For the prototype of the game Meme-ery only a few material components are being used to experiment with. These material components are the analogue playing cards which are the basis for the game playing. Due to the materials of this game being very limited, one could say that the price of creating, distributing and marketing will be quite low which is good.
I started my prototype for the game by using paper as my cards in order to set it up and be able to see it physically and test run the game. Overall the paper was annoying to use for this but it served its purpose as examples of the real thing that might be created. This would definitely work better on proper playing cards.Read More »

The game that was prototyped in my group works with the concept of students struggling with balancing university, work and relationships while being a student at university or even school. This theme/idea is one that we have all experienced at some point being students and is something that we hope will make it relatable to future players.
Originally, our idea was to create a game called ‘Battle of the HECS‘ which borrowed elements from and was very similar to the game ‘Game of Life‘. This game design was way too complicated for a very simple game with an almost dull game loop. Battle of the HECS didn’t allow for any kind of strategic thinking as the game loop was restrictive and to simple. So as feedback from our tutor wasn’t what we were expecting we all thought that we could make something that still plays on the themes we highlighted but in another form.Read More »
The group game that was prototyped in our tutorial worked with the concept of students struggling with balancing uni, work, life and relationships. Our prototyped game borrows elements from the game ‘Game of Life‘ and has been created with UOW students in mind. We plan on making this a dark comedy type of game that will somewhat reflect the life of a university student with a lot of HECS debt (so basically everyone).
Our game starts off with the players picking a ‘Character Card‘ from the deck where there are quite a few characters to choose from. The character cards will hold those stereotypical uni students that you find at UOW or other universities, and they will have information on them based on the stereotypes.
